Qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 2022 is the process that a national football team must go through to qualify for the final round of the FIFA World Cup. The ranking reduces the high number of eligible participants from 211 to just 32 for the final round of the 2022 edition (expanded to 48 from 2026). 

The qualifying tournaments take place in the six continental zones of FIFA and are organized by their respective confederations: CAF (Africa), AFC (Asia), CONCACAF (North America, Central America and the Caribbean), CONMEBOL (South America), OFC (Oceania) and UEFA (Europe). For each FIFA World Cup, FIFA determines in advance the number of final places (total of 32 teams from all zones) that will be allocated to each zone based on the number and relative strengths of the teams in the confederations.

History of FIFA World Cup Winners


Qatar became the first country to automatically qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup as a host when it won the bid to host the tournament. This is their first appearance in the competition, never having qualified for the final in World Cup history.

Germany were the second team to qualify for the tournament after beating North Macedonia in October 2021 and also the top spot in Group J.

Denmark qualified in October after their 10th victory over Austria, strengthening thus its status of winner of group F.
